The Steveston Community Society is an association of volunteers dedicated to maintaining a positive, pioneer “Spirit of Steveston”, by providing cultural, social & recreational opportunities for all members of the community.

Preschool Open House
Come find out about the various preschool programs we offer at the Steveston Community Centre on Tuesday, January 31 from 6:00 to 8:00pm.
A presentation will be made at 6:00pm and again at 7:00pm including information about how to register. Meet the teachers, explore our classrooms and learn about our Salmonbellies, Sunshine, Moonbeams, Rainbow and Two's Time programs.

Steveston: A Community History
We are very proud to announce the release of our new book "Steveston: A Community History" which was researched and written on our behalf by local historian and long-time City of Richmond Councillor Bill McNulty. It is a detailed account of the birth and development of Steveston from the mid-1800s to present day. Copies are available to purchase from the Steveston Community Centre for a suggested donation of $20, with half the proceeds being forwarded to the Japan Relief Fund for Onagawa. Japan Earthquake/Tsunami Relief Fund Walk
On behalf of the Steveston Rotary Club and Steveston Community Society, thank you to everyone who came out and supported the fundraising walk on Sunday, March 20. Thanks to your generosity, we have raised over $80,000, which will directly support the town of Onagawa in the Sendai region of Japan. Visit the Steveston Rotary Club website for more details.

NOTICE OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETINGS
Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meetings of the Steveston Community Society and Richmond Agricultural and Industrial Society will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at 7:00pm in the Seiner Room at the Steveston Community Centre. A special resolution to amend the bylaws of the Steveston Community Society will be presented as well.

Eating Together!
We're teaming up with Touchstone Family Association to host the 2nd annual Eating Together family dinner at the Steveston Community Centre on Sunday, February 26, 2012. Dinner will be prepared and served by Steveston Community Society board and staff! Cost is only $8 Ad/$6 Youth/$4 Child and any surplus funds will be donated between Touchstone's "Front Porch" program and the our new educational garden project. Check the poster for more details!
NEWCOMER ASSISTANCE SERVICES
CHIMO is pleased to provide NEWCOMER ASSISTANCE SERVICES at Steveston Community Centre. Every Wednesday morning, a Settlement Worker will be available to provide 1-to-1 assistance with information, form-filling, and referrals to make sure that Newcomers have the supports needed to make a smooth transition to their new community. CHIMO provides a variety of workshops such as Newcomer Youth Connect, Parenting Well in a Canadian Context, Working in Canada, Participating in Community Life, Business Development (with a FREE 1-hour consultation), and many more! CHIMO also provides Community Tours, Networking Sessions and Friendship Group Sessions, to help Newcomers connect with Richmond residents, community events, and services. Steveston Christmas Craft Fair
Saturday, November 24, 2012 10:00am to 4:00pm
The application form for the Annual Steveston Christmas Craft Fair will be available starting April 2012. Vendors from the 2011 craft fair will have the opportunity to book the same table in the first week of May. We open registration to the public on May 16th. Please note that prepared foods must abide by health & food safe regulations.
The application for the 2012 Steveston Salmon Festival Craft Fair is available on the Salmon Festival website until March 15, 2012.
